The Brief
The Brick & Mortar Design Challenge is an open creative call inviting planners, designers, architects, brand strategists, students, artists, and creative thinkers nationwide to reinterpret our venues through a single design image.
Whether your background is hospitality, interiors, experiential marketing, visual art, corporate events, weddings, or an entirely different discipline, we invite you to bring your perspective to the space.

The Process
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A valid entry requires completion of both ALL steps below.
Step One - Website Submission
Upload your design using the official submission form.
Step Two - Instagram Post or Reel
Post your design to Instagram during the contest window.
Step Three - Instagram Tagging
Your post or reel must:
Tag @brickandmortarvenues
Tag the venue the design is of @pagehousedc OR @the_space_dc
Include #b&mdesignchallenge
Entries missing ANY of the above listed requirements will not be considered.
Instagram accounts must remain public through the voting period.
MATERIALS
Designers are not required to use the photos provided, however all designs must be set in the venue. Additional images of Page House are available, upon request.
Design Guidelines
Required Submission
One (1) design rendering image per entry
Design Image must clearly depict either Page House or THE SPACE
Original work only
Optional
One (1) mood board may be included per entry
Creative Parameters
Submissions may be created using any professional or artistic medium, including digital design software, rendering tools, hand-drawn illustration, watercolor, pencil, mixed media, or other visual techniques.
AI-assisted tools and generative platforms are permitted.
All submissions must represent original creative work produced by the entrant. Use of copyrighted materials, protected imagery, or third-party assets without proper authorization is strictly prohibited.

Maximum File Size
20MB
Submissions must be uploaded as a single flattened image file.
Video files, PDFs, shared drive links, or external links will not be accepted.
Instagram Reels are permitted for promotional posting; however, the official submission must be a static image file.
Timeline
Launch - March 3, 2026
Submission Deadline - March 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST
Public Voting Opens - March 24, 2026
Public Voting Closes - March 29, 2026 at 9:00 PM EST
Winner Announcement — April 1, 2026
Announcement of Winner(s) may be adjusted due to unforeseen circumstances. Any date modifications will be announced on this website, all Instagram channels to via email to any entrants. Winners will be posted to this website and announced on Instagram.
Judging & Voting

All valid submissions will be reviewed by Brick & Mortar Venues.
If more than ten (10) entries are received for a venue, Brick & Mortar reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to select up to ten (10) finalists per venue to advance to public voting.
Entries will be evaluated based on:
Creativity and originality
Alignment with the selected venue
Visual execution
Feasibility within the space
Brick & Mortar Venues reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not meet the stated guidelines or brand standards.

Public Voting
Selected finalists will be featured for public voting during the designated voting period.
Voting may occur via Instagram engagement or other methods determined by Brick & Mortar Venues.
Brick & Mortar reserves the right to audit votes and remove fraudulent, automated, or manipulated engagement.

Final Determination
Public voting results will inform the final decision.
However, Brick & Mortar Venues reserves the right to make the final determination in its sole discretion to ensure fairness and integrity.
All decisions are final.

Each participant (individual or company) may submit one (1) rendering per venue.
Submissions must be distinct and submitted separately through the official form. Duplicate or minimally altered submissions may be disqualified.

Absolutely!
Participants may submit one rendering for Page House and one rendering for THE SPACE. Each submission must meet all entry requirements and be posted separately to Instagram.

Yes.
Individuals, teams, and companies are welcome to enter. Each submission must designate one (1) representative as the official entrant and primary point of contact. All communication and any awarded prize will be issued to the designated representative only.

Proper tagging is required for a valid entry.
Instagram posts must tag @brickandmortarvenues, tag the applicable venue account (@pagehousedc or @the_space_dc), and include #b&mdesignchallenge.
Entries missing required tags or hashtag at the time of the submission deadline may be disqualified.

The B&M Spotlight Award (six hours of venue access) must be redeemed by December 31, 2026. All standard venue policies, operational guidelines, insurance requirements, and availability restrictions apply. Blackout dates may apply. Prize is non-transferable and has no cash value.

Yes. Instagram accounts for the individual or company entering must remain public from the time of posting through the conclusion of the public voting period. Private accounts cannot be reviewed or included in voting.
